Below you can find useful information about the recording process. If you require any further information please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.
Venues - We can recommend and book various studios, halls or churches depending on requirements. Prices can vary dramatically from £100 to over £3000 a day. If you have a venue in mind here are some things to consider: Does it have somewhere suitable for use as a control room? Is it quiet, with few external or internal noises; is it the right size and does it have the right acoustics for the ensemble and material being recorded; are the temperature and lighting good? If necessary is there a suitable piano or organ? Are the transport links good for musicians and is there parking; is there somewhere to unload and park? Is the venue free at the times and dates needed and can it be opened earlier for equipment set up and later for equipment to be de-rigged?

Short run is for up to 500 copies and replication from 500 upwards. Generally the price of 1000 copies is similar to 500. Please contact us for more details.
We can also provide graphic design if required. Any submitted artwork should use the CD templates below and be Press Optimised PDF. Some other formats are accepted but there may be a conversion fee.

Recording and set up times
These vary depending on what is being recorded but as a general rule allow more time than anticipated. When working out a schedule it is worth allowing up to 30 minutes at the start of the first session to allow time to move microphones and get the desired sound. Set-up before this usually takes between 1 and 2 hours depending upon number of musicians, microphones and whether there are any complexities such as slinging or playback on headphones or speakers. Packing up usually takes around an hour.
A typical commercial session recording takes 2-3 days to record but if there are budget restraints then a full CD can be done in 1 day, however, as this usually only allows about 2 takes of each piece there may be sections that cannot be perfected at the edit stage.
Editing times
As a rough rule of thumb for every day of recording a day of editing will be required but this does vary from project to project.
For live recordings a "topped and tailed" CD will be provided in the price and any editing from rehearsal will be charged per hour.
